Messaging

The Messaging module allows for messages to be sent to specific individuals or selected groups of staff and students.

It works as a broadcast messaging service to cascade information and can be triggered to be distributed over a given period of time. It provides an indication of whom has and hasn't yet read the alert message.

This service allows for providing quick updates to dashboard users, such as informing a class of students that their field trip has been rescheduled or a reminder to staff of a forthcoming meeting.

The Messaging module is not seen as a replacement to emails but as a way to issue one-way dashboard generated alerts and then gain an insight into whether the coverage of the information has reached the required audience through read / unread statuses.
